Amsterdam, September 2017: we were looking for a good Italian restaurant in Amsterdam and we’re picky about Italian food. Oh wait.. Who am I kidding? We are picky about all food. However, we found this place called Fiko and it definitely passed our test!
First, let me comment on the service! It was – in one word – EXCELLENT! The wait staff was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was relax, warm with Italian coziness.
Next, let’s talk food. We started with the Bruschetta Fiko. The tomato and stracciatella cheese topping was mixed with a perfect amount of parma ham. The bread was lightly charred, which added a nice smoky flavor and crunchiness to the bread. The EVO oil glaze lightly drizzled over it. If we had been alone, I would have licked the plate. Besides the Bruschetta we had Burrata with rucola and tomato: super creamy and utterly delicious!
For the main course, we thoroughly enjoyed eating the Lasagna and the day special: fresh sea bass filet. The lasagna was literally the most delicious blend of meat, parmesan cheese, mozzarella & tomato sauce. And the sea bass, well, let’s just say it put all other seabass dishes to shame.
Finally, dessert. The tortino al cioccolato and the tiramisu were a perfect way to finish the meal. They tasted as heavenly as they looked!
Conclusion: Fiko serves great authentic Italian food (together with wonderful wines)!
